Presidential Points - November 2013
This website update is long overdue, and I have no one to blame but myself.  Perhaps my procrastination stemmed from the fact not a whole lot has changed since last Society year, meaning the Wichita chapter is still kicking butt! Golf tournament: huge success.  Chapter meetings: great speakers and venues.  Member count: growing. Resource promotion: on track for another showcase year.  Board of governors/committee chairs: going above and beyond.  Presence in the Wichita area HVAC community: prominent.  Really the only things that have changed since last year are some of the faces and that we now have a huge event to get ready for.  I’m referring to the 2014 ASHRAE Region IX Chapter Regional Conference of course, hosted by Wichita.

Preparations are underway for our CRC, with committees formed and ideas flowing.  General Ken Stoppel is leading the charge.  We are also lucky enough to have the Region IX Director Regional Chair (Richard Bowman) as a member of our chapter, who has been involved with the planning of multiple CRC’s.  So with the experience of those two on our side, the 2014 CRC is shaping up to be one for the ages.  As I understand it, Wichita has a reputation for hosting great CRC’s, and we intend to continue that tradition.  It’s a huge task though.  We need all the help we can get, and the only bad idea is one that goes un-suggested.  If you’re not involved yet, what’s holding you back?!  Get ahold of Ken.  This only happens once every 13 years, so don’t wait till the next go-round.
